Adding Additional Tree Species

If you are a tree map administrator, you can import new species using OpenTreeMap's bulk uploader system. Click Manage on the upper left, then Bulk Uploader on the side bar. There you will find detailed instructions on uploading species. The species uploader only accepts lists that have been formatted to match the OpenTreeMap Species Import template, which you can download from the Bulk Uploader page.

By default, the master species list for your map includes tree species based on the i-Tree Streets climate region in which your map is located. After you select your tree map’s location, we load the species list associated with that region as listed in this spreadsheet from the US Forest Service. If your map intersects more than one region, species from both regions will be added to the master species list for your map. If your map intersects no regions (when a map is located outside the continental United States, for example), species from all regions will be added to the master species list for your map.
